WordPress is a very prosperous way for many people to start and maintain a blog of their own. The site offers a way to publish one or multiple blogs and there is no cost for any of them. It offers templates to help someone develop their site and widgets and themes which can be used to further enhance it. WordPress has come a long way since its creation in the early part of the 21st century and thanks to its management it has far to go.

About WordPress

WordPress has been a huge success since its creation. It offers a no cost, effective way to create a blogging website for personal or business needs. WordPress can be used by anyone in any part of the world under any language. It has the benefit of allowing individuals to easily and uniquely create and control their work whatever way they like. There is no need to understand complex computer language or to have a web hosting or creating background. Essentially all of the hard work is done for you. All you have to do is log on and choose your design. The rest is done for you.

History

WordPress began in 2003 as an application for someone to help develop or publish a blog. It was a successor to the b2cafelog, initially developed by Michel Valdrighi. It was developed from an idea previously conceived for an elegant and simple way to use a template, personal publishing system. In 2005, the company really took off and their newly introduced version was downloaded over 900,000 times. Since its creation, WordPress has become the largest self hosting blogging tools in the world. Its creator, Michel Valdrighi, continues to work with the company and is currently a contributing editor for WordPress.

Current Uses

Currently WordPress is used by various people as a blogging base. It is used worldwide in any language as anything from a personal webpage to a major business base. It is a wonderfully simple and inexpensive way for a new business to get its feet off the ground. Many people have found uses for it in creating their own websites so that they can communicate and share information with friends and family. It is downloaded millions of times each year. In addition, an application program was launched in July of 2009 for iPhone and iPod Touch, which has become increasingly popular. WordPress usage has initiated a conference type meeting in many communities known as "WordCamp". These conferences focus on everything pertaining to WordPress, and are informal ways to pass along information, share ideas, and get to know one another.

Benefits

There are numerous benefits to WordPress. Its largest benefit appears to be the no cost use of the program. Many people lack the skill or understanding to set up a quality website. It is with these individuals that WordPress has been a huge hit with. WordPress is simple and easy to use even for people that have little skill on the computer. It has a large selection of attractive templates that can be set up with formative ease. There are also numerous widgets that can be used to dress up your website or even your iPods or iPhones. Also, it has a huge web support team that can be contacted if needed. They are a very helpful when someone is having trouble achieving what they want with their website or to be there simply to ask a technical question of.

Still Growing

WordPress has grown by leaps and bounds since it was first created. It continues to change each year with new editions, templates and services. There seems to be no end to what WordPress can do or what services and benefits it can offer the people it serves. The creators and managers have very open minds and are creative. They are always thinking in terms of future needs of the websites users. So, there is no doubt that there will be all sorts of new things that will be born out of the WordPress management.
